Hello Dear Readers.
Thank you for joining me in this new space! I’ve decided to step away from my social media platforms more and more, as I find the platforms themselves shifting greatly and less and less content that is filling me up (and my ability to keep up with weakening). I’ve really enjoyed following along some of my favorite creators and writers here on Substack, and had such a positive experience creating The Recipe Box with my mom this past year, that I felt called toward making a new space to share about my work. There are so many great features to substack, but one of my favorites is that you can leave comments and interact with each post as much or as little as you want to.
I am just about to dive into a very dreamy and all encompassing collaborative creative project this year, and my work for it will not be available to share with the public for quite some time. So how to stay connected and talk about art and stay in conversation with you all?
My husband had the idea actually (he is my low key business manager 😉) to start a newsletter where each month I take a past painting I have created and get into the nitty gritty of the process. Where I was in my life when I was working on it, why I was inspired to create what I did, the technical and creative challenges that came from it, and really the greater meaning and story behind it all. I’ll also keep you updated with what is currently inspiring me out in the big beautiful world of makers and thinkers, and announce any sales or shop updates here as well.
And what’s great is that it all gets delivered to your inbox, so you don’t even have to think about opening up an app or taking a second step in reading what I have to share.
Thank you for coming along with me as I navigate the shifting tides of my process and how I share my work with my community. Please feel free to invite anyone else along who may be interested in learning more about watercolor painting, or more around the realm of food and botanical illustration.
I believe when we share our stories, we all grow and expand together, and I am grateful to have this little window for you to receive mine. Please feel free to share any of your own inspirations or musings in the comments section below each month’s post. It fills me up to receive your stories too.
Coming next: A love letter to heirloom beans, and why I decided to paint them, and paint them BIG.
Love reading your words, can't wait to see more <3
I love the idea of taking past paintings and explaining the process behind. Can’t wait!
