Hello dear readers. Thank you for being here. Something a little different this week! I just taught my first watercolor workshop of 2025 yesterday at Be Just in Charlottesville, Virginia. I always start my workshops out with a grounding meditation, so we can all land together and open up our senses in a conscious and collective manner.
I’ve decided to share that simple meditation with you all here. Feel free to use this before you go to start your own creative process, whether that be writing, cooking, painting, playing a sport, etc. It can be ANYTHING! I find that bringing awareness to any part of my day is always of benefit.
My husband and I got to go back to Maui for a week recently and we are still landing back down in Virginia. We used to live there and hadn’t been back to visit since we moved, almost 7 years ago. Wild how time flies and how much life has happened in between (+ a pandemic). But the islands greeted us with the same magic that we remembered. The breezes like hugs wrapped around you, the whales singing so loudly underwater! The turtles bopping their heads up at sunset to say goodbye to the sun. Cacao and papaya and so many beautiful fruits in abundance. It really is a very special place and I feel grateful we had the opportunity to dip our toes back in.
More reflections on creative practice, the current chaotic time we are all navigating, and works in progress to come in the weeks ahead. For now, just this simple meditation to help support you if desired. Thank you so much for reading and supporting this newsletter.
Announcements and Musings…
- and I are doing TWO workshops/retreats next month! One in Warm Springs, Virginia at the lovely Troddenvale Cider tasting room, and another at Walnut Family Bakery in Marshall, North Carolina. We only have TWO spots left for the Marshall retreat, which you can claim here.
Our Virginia workshop still has openings too! Please come join us at either event for days full of baking, playing with foraged spring plants/flowers, and painting. Delicious lunches are included in both events, as well as refreshments and baked treats.
-This episode of the Emerald podcast feels like it is speaking right to me. I’ve been in a season of singing outdoors just about every day up here in the mountains, and trusting in the unknown/mystery of life maybe more than ever before. Highly recommend if you need some reassurance in this moment in time.
-Everyone is talking about it these days, and I am just diving in, but I get it why the Telepathy Tapes podcast is so intriguing. Check it out if you want to be reminded that we definitely do not know everything there is to know.
-My 2025 calendar is at its lowest price and I only have a handful left! Help me sell them all! 10% of profit from the calendars goes to RVA Community Fridges. And, you get 13 pieces of artwork to save within each calendar. You can find them here in my webshop.
-I also shared recently the making of this new foxglove watercolor piece with my paid subscribers. Next up are mushrooms! Stay tuned.
-A reminder that if you are a paid subscriber you get 15% off anything in my webshop, always. If you’d like to upgrade to paid, you can do that here. Thank you so much for your support.
These are my updates for now. Sending love and hope as we feel the first little glimmers of spring in the Northern hemisphere.
