A visualization + meditation for creating safety

Good Afternoon dear readers. Thank you for being here. Just a quick share today. Recently, I had a student email me to ask me about a meditation that I shared in a workshop a couple of months ago. It inspired me to share a similar meditation with you all here. I call this my ‘plant shield’ meditation. It is meant to serve as a way of feeling protected and connected to the natural world, and to feel more aware in our sensational body. It is a reminder that we have friends and allies in the growing soil all around us, and we can call on their support whenever we feel the need for a little extra safety and calm.

It has been an intense week, and I feel it will continue to feel intense as the days and weeks move on, and the injustices of the world reach new heights of cruelty. I invite you to use this meditation when you need to come back to yourself, to feel beauty and peace. Know that self care practices such as meditation, creating art, and moving and caring for our bodies, are all radical forms of resistance in a time where political powers want us to feel nothing but frozen fear. The more we can keep meeting ourselves in our needs, the more we can show up to help others around us. The more we can cultivate moments of peace and expansiveness amongst the chaos, the more we build a world that grows from and prioritizes those spaces.
